During the Cuban Missile Crisis, a Soviet submarine delivering barrels of nuclear material to Cuba is sunk, releasing radioactive material into the nearby waters. This causes an octopus to grow to monstrous size, attacking submarines and naval vehicles off Cuba's coast.
