Chris, an archaeologist haunted by nightmares of his family's murder during his childhood, returns to the ruins of a European monastery where the tragedy occurred. His father had been searching for the tomb of Prince Elok at the time. Accompanied by his girlfriend Jenny, a magazine editor funding the expedition to cover the story, Chris resumes the search. Soon, he begins experiencing delusions, including the reappearance of his childhood imaginary friend, Daniel.
