Julie, a newly qualified teacher from Copenhagen, Denmark, escapes her unfaithful boyfriend and big city life by taking a job on an idyllic island in southern Norway. However, she struggles to fit into the close-knit community and soon discovers that the island harbors dark secrets beneath its serene surface.
