Darling rose to fame in New York City's underground film scene for her performances in the Andy Warhol-produced films Flesh (1968) and Women in Revolt (1971). She was photographed by Cecil Beaton and Richard Avedon, and starred in Tennessee Williams' play, Small Craft Warnings (1972).
