Army radiation experiments awaken a subterranean monster from a fissure, which feeds on energy and terrorizes a remote Scottish village. An American research scientist from a nearby nuclear plant teams up with a British investigator to uncover why victims are being radioactively burned. They also investigate a series of radiation-related incidents occurring in an ever-growing straight line away from the fissure.
