Rachel survives being hit by a cab and wakes up in the emergency room of a hospital. However, she sees Death pursuing her, yet fails to convince the nurses. Later, she is drugged and awakens in St. Joseph, a mental hospital run by Dr. Brown. There, she encounters five other patients who also had near-death experiences and share her belief that Death is closing in on them.
