Alex Bernier, a priest from the secretive Carolingian order, is sent to Rome to investigate the mysterious death of their leader. The body has strange chest marks that might be linked to a Sin Eater, a rogue offering absolution outside the Church’s authority. Teaming up with Father Thomas and a troubled artist he once exorcised, Alex delves into the mystery and soon becomes its central figure.
