After a strange meteor destroys a communications satellite and crashes into Tampa Bay, a sickly fish becomes the meal of a beautiful nightclub bartender named Val. As the bar closes, Val falls ill, and chaos ensues. Unbeknownst to her, the parasite she ingested rapidly grows, taking control and turning her into its puppet. Trapped with no way to escape or call for help, the remaining club-goers must fight to survive and destroy the creature before it can be unleashed on the world.
