Eckhart Schmidt (31 October 1938 – 24 October 2024) was a German film director, producer, writer and photographer. In 1982 he directed the film Der Fan, with Désirée Nosbusch in the lead role, which became a cult film in Germany and worldwide. The film is an adaptation from his novel of the same title.
