Film • Jul 15, 1935

In a 16th-century European town, a ruling family receives a prophecy: if twin boys are born, the younger will kill the older. Twins arrive to the popular baron, causing distress. The older twin becomes a selfish ruler, inheriting the castle. Fearing the prophecy, he plots to murder his returning younger brother, taking his identity and concealing the body in the sealed "black room." By doing so, he aims to evade the prophecy, escape his crimes, and marry a local noblewoman.
