Helen Lyle, a grad student, hears about Candyman, a vengeful spirit with a hook for a hand, said to haunt a notorious housing project. Seeing it as a unique angle for her thesis, she ventures into the gang-ridden area, dismissing the legend—until Candyman appears, sparking a series of gruesome murders. When the police blame Helen for the killings, her only hope for freedom lies in the very monster she sought to disprove.
