A music journalist, Myles Clarkson, excitedly interviews virtuoso pianist Duncan Ely, who is terminally ill. Duncan takes a sudden interest in Myles when he notices Myles' hands are perfect for piano. Myles' wife, Paula, grows suspicious of Duncan's intentions, especially after Duncan's death leads to Myles mysteriously becoming a virtuoso overnight.
