Simon Wells, an American visitor to Britain, unwittingly becomes embroiled in a dangerous scheme orchestrated by a sadistic gang led by King. After being rescued by army security officers from a secret project, Simon finds refuge with Bernard, the project's scientist, and his girlfriend Freya. As Simon's relationship with Joan, a girl connected to the gang, intensifies, they seek shelter in Freya's cottage, leading to a harrowing series of events involving a group of enigmatic, radioactive children.
