In present-day New Mexico, Brian and Lukas wander away from a desert party and stumble into a secret military lab. There, they uncover a decades-old experiment mixing insect DNA with material from a fallen meteorite, creating giant mutated ants that have overrun the facility. Now the two friends must stop the creatures before they escape and trigger an all-out invasion.
