Psycho Goreman (2020) – Mr. Movie's Film Blog Psycho Goreman (2020) Little Girl. Big Psycho. If you imagine a riff on E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) but with the kindly alien botanist swapped out for a bloodthirsty intergalactic warlord who’d look right at home in a GWAR music video, you’re on the right track here. Written and directed by Steven Kostanski, The Void (2016),…
Psycho Gorman Everything that viewers need to know about writer-director Steven Kotanski’s (The Void) Psycho Goreman is right there in the title: it’s crazy, campy, schlocky and incredibly gory. It’s The Toxic Avenger by way of Power Rangers, and it knows how to make the most of its absurdist premise for an entertaining lo-fi romp. Millions of […]
PG: Psycho Goreman movie review (2021) Maybe there’s a more ambitious (or at least righteously silly) parody amidst all the schticky callbacks and corny dialogue, but it’s hard to tell based on the movie’s episodic sketches.
Psycho Goreman Featured, Reviews Film Threat The warped wizards of Canada's Astron-6 Production Company have returned with Psycho Goreman, carrying with them the same irreverent, esoteric humor and gore that has marked their works for over a decade. The talentedly twisted collective has demonstrated a slavish devotion to the gory, glory days of the VHS-ruled 80s in projects such as Insanophobia, Goreblade, and Xtreme Ghost
PG: Psycho Goreman Review Gleeful gore, practical creature effects, and a big heart are enough to make this a fun start to the movie year
'Psycho Goreman' Review: Like Marvel Meets Troma In a cleverly schlocky evil-alien-out-of-water comedy, a couple of kids meet an overlord who's too serious to take seriously.
PG: Psycho Goreman review – controlling a demon alien is child’s play | Film A cheeky 12-year-old develops extraordinary powers after taking control of a menacing extraterrestrial, in this engaging comedy-horror
PG: Psycho Goreman Review Despite delays due to the pandemic, the latest midnight-movie horror comedy Psycho Goreman screened at Beyond Fest, the Sitges Film Festival and Monster Fest earlier this year. Heading to horror streaming service Shudder later this week, this low-budget but high energy flick channels the campiness…
In Search of Hunky Boys Psycho Goreman by Hope Madden How much fun is this movie?! Tons. Endlessly quotable and boasting inspired creature design and a twisted Saturday Morning Kidventure tone, Psycho Goreman is a blast Mimi (a wrong-headed and glorious Nita-Josee Hanna) and her loyal (OK, cowering) brother Luke (Owen Myre) inadvertently summon—nay, control—an intergalactic evil so dastardly it … Continue reading In Search of Hunky Boys →
PG: Psycho Goreman | Steven Kostanski Psycho Goreman offers undeniably impressive practical effects and exactly nothing else. In director Steven Kostanski’s Psycho Goreman, two children — brother and sister — dig up an evil alien beefcake hellbent on destroying the universe. Thankfully, he’s also easily controlled with the help of the magical amulet with which he was buried. Together, the three of them go on wacky, lightly comic adventures and fight the aliens who want to kill their alien, all while the kids learn to love each other despite their differences. Obviously, Psycho Goreman, FKA The Archduke of Nightmares, learns about love too. To say there’s not much here would be an understatement. If there’s anything in the film that merits praise, it’s the practical VFX work. In fact, the whole thing reads as an excuse to show off the effects team’s prowess at making monsters that look like Power Rangers villains and then tearing them apart, limb from limb. And while the artistry doesn’t match the heights of Savini or Baker, it is sturdy, charming, and genuinely impressive for a project that feels this small. The bigger problem is that this feeling of slightness seems to stem less from budgetary concerns than filmmaking that is amateurish […]
'PG: Psycho Goreman' Review: A Too-Winking Tribute to ‘80s Schlock This tongue-in-cheek gorefest gives the impression of an only semi-coherent joke on the audience.
