Edward Kendal Sheridan Lionheart, an esteemed Shakespearean actor of the old school, was a favorite among matinée audiences but now struggles to adapt to new theater roles. When the theater critics pass over him for the annual Guild's "Best Actor" award in favor of a younger actor, Lionheart is filled with indignation and seeks revenge by recreating death scenes from his final repertoire of Shakespearean tales.
