Friday the 13th was dreadful and took in more than $17 million. Friday the 13th Part 2 was just as bad and took in more than $10 million. Friday the 13th Part III is terrible, too.

It's just a day after the events of Friday the 13th Part 2 (Saturday the 14th?), and Jason Voorhees gets a nice present, via a new group of young people, who come up to Crystal Lake for some fun, sun and sex, and will soon be systematically butchered. While discarding the camp setting of the first two films (which actually only prominently figures into one other sequel), the formula is still the same -- not surprising, considering how profitable a series this already was.
